Our 14th week is our final exam week. Our INTRICT exam was today Wednesday, the exam was okay 'if you really study'. After the exam we went to robinson's place to watch a movie then after, we had a little chit chat with Sir Oli. :P We have one more final exam, it is CCSALGE, on Friday. :)

Last week :(

On our 13th week, we didn't have classes on Monday. On Wednesday, our prof Sir Oli discussed to us about the passing and failing of our courses and what will happen if we fail a course...
Then on Saturday he asked us to go to DLSU for an activity. He let us answer a worksheet for bonus points to catch up because a lot failed on the report last time, the highest score was 74/100, the lowest score was 32/100 and the others mostly got 50+/100. :( ... :)

Lecture and Dance Showdown

On our 12th week, Sir Oli told us about the Programming Language(Second Language), the more programming languages you know the better. Binary is the lowest language, then there's the Assembly, Java is part of the 1st generation language, then the 2nd generation, 3rd generation, 4th generation then the Visual Basic. Language names are the A,B,C,C++(D),C#(E), and the next language name will be F#. There are different kinds of programming languages:
1. Java
2. SQL
3. NET
4. Web Languages
-Javascript
-JSP
-PHP
-AJAX
-XML
5. Mobile Languages
-J2ME
On the same week, Wednesday, we had a dance showdown for our consequence last activity that all of us got a negative demerit. It was fun dancing but it was more fun to watch my blockmates show their talents on dancing. :)

Lectures

Time is really fast! We are already on our 11th week, Sir Oli told us about the y2k problem. That's where the end of the world thing was brought up because of the y2k. He said that time there was not much new inventories because everyone is concentrating on how they will solve the y2k problem. Oh and Sir Oli explained to us why does the MB,GB,KB are always 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, etc... it is because they are all 2 raise to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc... I also questioned that before why is it like that but now I know:
Flash Drive=
4 = 2^2
8 = 2^3
16 = 2^4
32 = 2^5
64 = 2^6
128 = 2^7
256 = 2^8
512 = 2^9
1024MB = 1GB = 2^10
2048MB = 2GB = 2^11
4096MB = 4GB = 2^12
8192MB = 8GB = 2^13

oh btw,
32K = 8" disk
64K = 5/1/4" disk
128K = 5/1/4" disk double-sided
1.2MB = 3/1/2" FOD

CD = 750MB
DVD = 4GB
DVD-DL = 8GB
BR = 32GB

that's it hehe :)

Sir Oli also discussed about the Computer Communications
It is the process where two or more computers transfer data and instructions.
He told us about the fiber optic, it is a wire that is just like a stand of hair, it cannot be bend because light passes through it so you can't bend it or else it is already useless. Our school DLSU has fiber optics but Sir Oli didn't tell us where it is located for safety purposes. He also told us that each buildings have wires connected to Gokongwei building(our building hehe) because they get their network connection from Gokongwei building where it is located. :)

Lecture and Activity

On our 10th week, our prof Sir Oli had a lecture, he also told us what we should do for our midterm(Makro) and the deadline was Wednesday already so most of us didn't sleep on Tuesday night just to finish it and on the same day Wednesday we had an activity, Sir Oli gave us papers with information about different brand of cars that were sold in a given year. We have to answer his questions using those data and as I can remember the first question, he gave us only 3 minutes to answer it then on the 2nd it was 5 minutes then 10 minutes then 15 minutes but the questions were getting harder for us because we need to analyze those data, compute it and do it in a group as fast as we could. :)
